Tajweed Exemption Exam policy applies to BAIS students (possibility to be exempt from 2 tajweed courses).

Eligibility Criteria to Take the Tajweed Exemption Exam

  • Candidates should have studied and successfully passed a tajweed certificate course from a reputable institution (minimum duration of study 1 year).

Tajweed Exemption Exam Policy

Candidates who have studied and successfully passed a tajweed certificate course (minimum duration of study 1 year) from a reputable institution are eligible to take the Tajweed Exemption Exam. Upon successfully passing this exam, they are eligible for a waiver from the IOU BAIS tajweed courses (TAJ 101 and TAJ 102). Students will then select courses from the IOU waiver replacement courses instead.

Exam

The exam is divided into two parts as follows:

  • Written exam to be taken at the IOU approved exam centers.
  • Online oral exam.

Fees

The Tajweed Exemption Exam is subject to a $20 flat fee that is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstance. Only one attempt is allowed for the exam. If a student misses the exam for the applied semester without a valid reason, s/he will have to pay the fees again the following semester.

Passing Grades Table

80-100%Student is eligible for the waiver in both Tajweed 101 and 102, and can choose from the waiver replacement courses
70-79%Student is eligible for the waiver in Tajweed 101 only.
