Islamic Online University has grown and evolved over a decade into one of the leading online educational institutions. Over the course of this journey, the University has often met with barriers that hindered the growth and ability to serve the needs of a greater student body. It is unfortunate that the acceptance of our original name is one of these barriers. 

Seeing the immense need to serve students in far-reaching communities, where education is not readily available and at the same time to enhance further the services provided to our registered students, the name of the University has been changed to the International Open University. We continue to have our headquarters at The Gambia.

Despite the change in the name, the management, the vision, mission and ethos of the University would remain the same. Insha'Allaah.

The name change came into effect from January 15, 2020.
