On December 29, 2019, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that has been signed between the Madeenah Indonesia and the International Open University (IOU). 

Madeenah Indonesia is an Islamic center in a village of Santri in Banten, Indonesia. The center has been providing Islamic studies and Quranic classes to the children and youth from seven local high schools. However, a challenge has been to continue providing such classes to the graduates of high schools as most choose to further their tertiary education in universities away from the village. 

This may negatively impact their Islamic development as most universities in Indonesia are secular in nature. Hence, the partnership with IOU intents to solve this problem by initiating a tertiary institution with quality education in the village without the need to leave a safe environment or compromise youths' religion.
